Root Overclock on rooted stock?

Can someone give me noob guide to overclocking on rooted stock?

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can overclock on the stock kernel. You can keep the stock ROM, but I'm pretty sure you will need a custom kernel with oc ability.

Yeah I figured it out. I'm using this kernel. Unfortunately I can't run it at 806. Gonna have to keep testing to get the most out of this thing.

I am running rooted stock and according to Android Assistant my processor is running at 480mhz. I used SetCPU to OC.
I was wrong.

The max I can run it at is 787. I guess I didn't get one of those lucky phones that can go past 830

The only way you can oveclock this phone is to install any of the custom Roms,just rooting it will not work,and trying to push the CPU to the max is not advisable, the life of the phone is greatly reduced.

I am also overclocked you just need a custom kernel.

reduced life doesn't mean instabrick

overclocking ALWAYS reduces the life of the hardware but the hardware even when overclocked (within safe overclocking range... obviously OCing an optimus to 1GHz might be a bad idea) will usually outlive it's usefulness... especially with phones

As long as it lasts a year or two I really don't care. I just want my phone to be fast.

Technically, your not overclocked. Stock clock speed is 600mhz, You are underclocked to 480mhz. Personally I don't see the reason behind this. You are not saving any battery power. If you look at battery use vs clock speed there is no difference between 600 and 480. All you are doing is slowing your phone down for no reason.

How do you know no one has not bricked a V,by overclocking it.

Technically, your not overclocked. Stock clock speed is 600mhz

I thought it was 200.
