Push email and Go Daddy account on HTC Desire

Has anyone succesfully set up the HTC Desire push email with a godaddy email account?

I am getting a desire and want to know if push email works succesfully with a godaddy email account before I get it.

I wasn't aware that GoDaddy offered push email.

I have a couple of domains with them that work fine using pop3.

Same here, I have 7 POP email accounts through my GoDaddy domain and they work fine, but I haven't looked at push email. K-9 Mail checks messages every 3 hours on most accounts, and every few minutes on my most important account, so I'm not sure whether push would give me any advantage.

From the GoDaddy.com support pages....

"Push email automatically sends new data to an email client or mobile device. This includes email, calendar, and contact updates.
Only our Hosted Exchange Email plans support push email."

All my emails from godaddy get forwaded onto my outlook express , is there any way I can set up push email from this (outlook)? Would be quite frustrating if I couldn't set up push email for this because it's a business email.

you could setup a rule so that all mail that hits your outlook box would be forwarded to your device, you would however need to have your outlook always open for this to work as the rule would be client side and not server side.

How can I do that? Or would it be easier to stop godaddy hosting my domain name and use somewhere else? (I'm failry new to this so excuse my ignorance)

also could I not forward email from outlook express onto gmail, which then offers a free push service?

yep you could forward mail from OE to Gmail but again you would need OE to be open for the rule to work.

Thanks, so there is no possible way of having the push email set up other than having outlook express open on a computer?

Outlook express is an email client. Email clients cannot push mail anywhere.

Best guess I think you have two options;

1. take out GoDaddy's hosted exchange service; Hosted Exchange - Corporate-class Messaging at Small-business Prices then configure the account in the HTC email app as an Exchange Activesync account.

or

2. set up your existing GoDaddy email via webmail https://login.secureserver.net/index.php?app=wbe to forward all emails to Gmail.

Your best bet however is to contact GoDaddy tech support and ask them.

I don't know if this answers your question, but I've just acquired (yesterday) an HTC Desire Z and configured it to both send and receive email from my godaddy registered and hosted accounts.
I followed these instructions community.godaddy.com / help / article / 4906
selecting POP with SSL port 995 and no login for my SMTP.
I can both receive and send mesages no problem.

gmail is push, just forward any other email accounts to gmail, simple.
