Due to GPS glitches with my Pre Plus on Verizon, they have given me the option of exchanging my phone for any phone I want. Obviously, an Android device would be my first choice for an exchange. However, I stopped by the Verizon store last night to check out some Android devices and I was surprised by the video. I went to YouTube and checked out some videos and on all of them (Droid, Droid 2, Droid X, Samsung Fascinate), the video was just letterbox and also cut off on the edges (kind of like when you watch a non-HD program on an HD channel and it cuts the edges off). I was surprised b/c these phones really tout their big bright screens. Why doesn't video take up the whole screen? Even though my Pre Plus has a smaller screen, b/c YouTube videos take up all of it, the videos are actually bigger than on any of the Android phones. Just curious about this.

I'd also be open to tips/advice/suggestions on what Android phone on Verizon would be my best bet.

Haven't reall noticed the video clipping off on my Incredible. Most - if not all - have been in the whole window. Settings, perhaps?

Word of caution: if you want complete syncing capabilities with Outlook Mail, Calendar, Tasks and Notes, the same way your Pre Plus does, it's not straightforward. So if that's important to you, you might be better off going with another Pre Plus or a Blackberry. While the default mail and calendar programs can be set to sync with your Outlook info, Droid does not sync with Outlook Tasks and Notes. So far I've found one app which will sync all of those itesms - Touchdown by Nitrodesk - but it's $19.99.

Were you running in HD or non HD, there should be an option when you select a video. That could of been what it was, my N1 plays most youtube in widescreen.

Thanks forthe tips. I don't use Outlook for anything, so that wouldn't be a problem for me.

I initially thought the video thing might be a settings issue, but since each phone I tried played video the same way, I figured that's just how it played.
