Root Rooting Nook Color with a Mac

Good afternoon. I have a Nook color that I want to start using more as a tablet and add the ability to use the Android Market. I also have a Mac. Is there a Mac specific tutorial on to how to Root the Nook?

Also, I bought the Nook when it first came out and I want to say there has been a software update. Do I need to remove that and return to factory? Thanks for the help

Like all guides, it's for a PC, but the only difference is going to be for flashing the image for the sdcard. If it refers to winimage or w32disk imager, you need to use a program called "DD".
