If I root my phone and then run into problems later where I may need to have US Cellular work on it, is there a reset so that I can get it back to factory setting (unrooted)?
Yes but it's hard.
You need to flash a stock rom (stock roms are really hard to find) and then OTA update.
In other words you need to return your stock firmware and update just for caution.
Sounds a little scary to me. I wish I knew someone in my area that has experience doing this that I could trust. I would even be willing to pay for this service. I hate having things blocked on my phone by my carrier.
not so scary just do a backup of your phone with kies and then root away.
if you brick it take out the battery put it back and turn the phone in download mode and reflash thats what i did
Ok, I am going to experiment by trying to back up my phone with Kies. I opened Kies Air. Is that the one I am suppose to back it up with because I see no option for backing up the phone?
no you need to connect your phone to the PC via USB open kies on the computer click tools and backup phone it should be in tools but from the latest kies update its somewere else you will find it
I connected my phone to the computer with a usb cable and open kies and is started scanning but would not find my phone. It come back with this message;
No device found to connect to
Please check WiFi connection status and/or if Hies air has been properly
launched on the mobile.
Are you using a random usb cable or the one that came with the phone. Because I've found that usb cables that come with the Note 2 and blackberry usb cables will connect your phone to the computer.
