S3 TouchWiz top shade

Hi I've got a Samsung S3 with Android version 4.2.1. And I need some help on how to remove (If possible) the awful top black shade that keeps on appearing slowly each time a new home screen wallpaper is selected until it reaches a quarter of the screen (Screenshot attached).


Can someone help please.

funny i don't see that on my GS3.....i am running Nova and i get a dark shade but not as dark as yours..

ok so i did an experiment and deleted my Nova launcher and guess what? I do not get that ugly shade on top of the screen, so it is NOT Touchwiz!!

as you can see below...if i were you i would factory reset!

I don't see that shadow appear either. Can you take me through exactly what you're doing to get it?

Are you simply pressing the menu soft button?

Do you by chance have an empty widget up there that acts like that when you do whatever you're doing?

The shadow gets lighter when ever a new home screen is selected. Then bytime it gets darker (4hrs approx). The attached images shows a new wallpaper selected.

Is possible that on the 4.2.1 Touchwiz the shade is a default?

Update 7 states that there's a top shadow

On 4.2 i dont have any shadow until i select it in Nova launcher (and that gives a top and bottom shadow/shading that doesnt change over time) so i honestly dont know man
Does it only happen on homescreen?

And the fact that it shows in a screenshot is a good thing because at least you know the display panel isnt dodgy :thumbup:

Are you rooted?

Do you have the US or international phone?

What carrier?

Just had a thought, is the display getting ready to time-out when this happens?
