Safe and approved sounds and notifications?

The latest update took all of my custom ringtones and notifications away and replaced them with the android defaults. I had Zedge and a tech guy said that Zedge is not an approved or phone friendly app. He said it is a hog and causes glitches which is why they wiped this in the update.

Is there a non-glitchy safe way to get more than the 10 sounds that the phone has as its defaults?

I don't mind paying for the app to ensure there isn't a ton of ads or other malicious stuff accompanying it. I just want some more sound choices.

I just go to zedge via my computer, and download to my PC the sounds I want. Then I copy those files to folders on the internal SD called Notifications or Ringtones. The stock sound picker will see them there, and you can assign them just as you would any of the built-in sounds.

I downloaded ringtone maker and cut my own ringtones from mp3s already on my phone. A lot less problems than Zedge, imo...

I have never had any issues with Zedge and that's what I use.

My preferred method also. Being rooted also opens up a ton more possibilities.
