Help Screen says blank at end of call

After certain phone calls, all i get is the blank screen and do not have access to end the call. the blank screen used to happen on my desire but a quick shake brought back thje screen but not on my sensation. Another phone in the family is the wildfire and this does the same, is there a setting i'm missing?
