Hey guys,
So I just purchased the Seidio Innocase Active X from here Amazon.com: Seidio Innocase Active X Case for Motorola Droid X (Black): Gateway
The Seidio user representative was kind enough to bring this listing to our attention and clarify that the Innocase Active X is actually a different model than the Innocase Active (Located on the Official Seidio website). The differences are merely cosmetic and can be shown here: http://androidforums.com/droid-x-ac...droid-x-now-available-amazon.html#post1640945
Packaging and Contents:
The package simply came in one of those clear plastic containers with these contents inside.
Actual Case:
Here are pictures of the case. It comes in two pieces: a Silicone Skin and plastic skeletal brace that has been covered with a rubberized paint to give it a nicer grip.
One thing to mention is that in the first pic, you may notice a slight discoloration on the inside of the skeletal brace. Upon closer examination, it's simply a spot that was not sprayed with the rubberized paint. I assume it was supposed to be aligned with the square indentation but the alignment was off and it comes off as a bit sloppy.
Putting the Case On:
Fitting the silicone case on was about as easy/simple as any other silicone case (***Although there was a some difficulty regarding a flap I will mention later). After fitting the silicone case, the skeletal bracing was placed over it and smoothly pressed into position. There were no audible or tactile snaps that the brace was fit on, just a smooth and soft "embrace" if you will.
Some complaints (Trivial or Substantial, up to you!)
DUST. This case has a moderate dust retention rate, but so do most silicone cases anyway. Just be aware!
Hard to press hardware buttons. As you can tell from the photos, the power/sleep button, volume rocker, and camera button are all covered with the case. Personally I really enjoyed this particular aspect of the case but it does require a harder finger press to activate the buttons. The power/sleep button for example will take some time getting used to as I am sure that we all use that button the most frequently. The volume buttons are the easiest to press (Fortunately!) and the camera button is by far the most difficult to press (Especially while trying to utilize its 2 step functionality)
Oddly Place Silicone Flap: This one is a rather substantial pain for me. Below is a picture demonstrating my current issue with this case. I often (As do many of you) pull down the notification bar. This particular case added this extra silicone bar across the top of the case which obstructs the Motorola logo. I can understand the aesthetic reason for implementing this design, but the practical purpose of it is beyond me. Every time I pull the notification bar, I either stretch this flap down or it impedes my finger movement and I have to re-swype. You may think this is a minor issue, but in practice, it can become a nuisance. I MAY altogether remove this silicone bar in the future but that may ruin the beauty of the case.
Conclusion:
I found that this case provides excellent shock absorption and looks sleek while doing so. There is a noticeable added bulk to it but it is by no means impractical to carry around. I would probably look to buy a different color in the future if the dust really bothers me (Possibly White!)
Overall, my first impressions are positive! If anything develops I will add it to this thread.
Pros:
+ Excellent shock protection
+ Visually appealing
+ Fantastic grip
+ Doesn't add too much bulk
Cons:
- Dust magnet
- Obstructive silicone flap on the front
- Hard to press hardware buttons (Easy to overcome with daily use)
Hope you enjoyed that!
