When I first heard that the X10 COULDN'T do multi-touch, I thought it was a bit odd. Sounds like someone's got their wires crossed somewhere. It would be great if it could but I don't miss it and personally couldn't care less either way.

The fact is, an X10 with 2.1 and multi-touch would be head and shoulders above any other Android phone out this year.

If this is true, I can't wait to see the faces [in September] of all those people who doubted the the X10 and bought a Desire instead :D

September? Still a heck of a way off.

Still looking like the Desire is the better option at this stage.

The desire is better option if you want a smaller screen that's useless outdoors and a poor camera along with a ugly design and poor build quality. Oh and poor multimedia player.

However most people will be buying the x10 or desire in a contract the hardware on the desire your stuck with but the software on the X10 will be updated.

'm really confused b/w X10 and Desire. Truth be told, I want to go for X10 but the thing which confuses me is that I am unable to decide b/w X10's Timescape and HTC's Sense UI. If on one side Timescape presents all things in one place then on the other side HTC's widgets (or Sense UI) attracts my attention also. I'm not at all bothered about 1.6 or 2.1. It's just the HTC's widgets or Sense UI. Apart from that, X10 has a killing design, and above all a rare combination of smartphone with excellent camera; Desire neither has an appealing design nor a better camera or multimedia. Can you please explain which one is better, X10's Timescape or HTC's Sense UI?

    Hi,

Not very promising the September part for 2.1 considering that 2.2 will probably be well established by then.

How long can it really take to port the O/S.. surly the drivers for the legacy stuff liek the camera and stuff can be ported from 1.6 to 2.1 very quickly.

    Not good at all :/

Keep things in perspective theres been NO OFFICIAL Annoucement so all this talk about "September" & "2.1" is just speculation.

For all anyone knows there could be a update before september and it could be 2.2.

Yes I hope it is false but I had the original xperia x1 and I just get the feeling Sony may shift as many as possible as fast as possible then once it dies down just leave it to die and not bother supporting it etc..

I would feel a lot better seeing an update sooner rather than later as I see anything past 6 months from now as far too long for them to bother with.

Sony Ericsson told me today that Android 2.1 (or whatever version is out between now and then) will be H2 2010. That's all I got. No answer on multitouch yet, so that's still speculation.

SonyEricssonNA tweeted the following earlier today:

Also, Rikard Skoberg posted the following on the SE Development Blog (the same place he verified that the X10 was not MT capable a few weeks back):

    Sounds pretty definite to me.

With that said, I'm still very happy with my X10.
