Help Stagefright virus on 3 day old galaxy s6?

I've been away for awhile so I just now heard of the stage fright issue. I have a galaxy s6 less than a week old and I ran the app from lookout that checks to see if you were vulnerable and it says that I am. Is this a real threat. Are there any actual preventative steps to take?

To answer your question, stagefright is a vulnerability, not a virus. It's been there since Froyo (2011) and to date there have been 0 (ZERO) exploits in the wild. Right now it's just a proof of concept and is being patched pretty quickly. There are workarounds to protect yourself, but I think Samsung has already announced their patch. It should be in the linked thread.
