Star app that is similar to Skyview on iOS

Finally back on droid. Couldn't stand how Iphone wouldn't even let you adjust the white balance before taking a picture.

With that said...I'm looking for an app that allows you to look at stars..except, I'm having a hard time finding one that works with the actual stars similar to Skyview on Iphone.

Everything I can find seems to have an "animation" of the stars, or a chart, and doesn't work with the stars in the sky as a background.

Is there any app that works like Skyview and shows constellations using the stars as they appear in the sky, opposed to Google Sky Map that uses a star chart?

I would be willing to purchase an app that does this as well, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Yup. SKYMAP ^^^ is stunning!
"Skyview" is probably a fancy looking innacurate clone of it tbh

Why have a live visual of the stars on your screen when visual star motion is a given.. like clockwork

Now thats an app that should have say a 24hour trial period. If its good id happily pay for it but i dont want just 15mins to test it :thumbup:

The charts are good apps, but I'm surprised there isn't one that works with the stars as they appear in the sky. I hope SkyView makes it to android soon.

Hmmm.. I've used SkyView and Sky Map and like Sky Map better. It does see the stars as they appear in the sky. Just hold you phone up in the air and it tells you what you're looking at. I've used it to help my son find stuff with his telescope.

SkyMap is a good app as well, but I'd like one that works with the stars as they exactly appear in the sky. It's not quite the same.

SkyView has a certain "wow" factor the first time you use it - even if SkyMap is a more comprehensive program.

Just tried SkEye for a minute (indoors lol) does it have an option so that the camera is used to display visible bodies on the screen? I 'think' thats what the OP is looking for :thumbup:

I know I've used one before that you hold up to the sky and it show you in real time what you're looking at

Sky Safari is about the most inclusive star map you could find. There are three versions with the most expensive at $40 but covers basically every single known piece of the universe.
