Help Sync calendars on two Samsung Galaxy S3 phones

My wife and I are using the calendar that comes with the phone. We would like to sync our two calendars, but I am not having much luck. I searched the forums and Google but did not find an answer to my specific issue. It seems that you can only sync calendars using the Google calendar. So I have some questions, how do you have the android calendar sync with the Google calendar? And then how do you sync the Google calendars? Or is there another way to do it?

Calendars sync with YOUR google account. You probably won't be able to sync it across two phones unless you both use the the same google account.

If you use Google calender and you put your spouses Gmail in the attending section of your events then it will sync to her Google calender so it will show up on her phone like it does your phone.

Also, download the Google calender app from the play store. (unless you really enjoy the Samsung calender lol)

Getting you and your wife 'linked' on one calendar is a little more involved, one of you need to specifically add the other to their Google Calendar with not just sharing permission but the ability to add/modify:
