    Hi all,
    I am using Huawei Ideos U 8150 since jan 2011.It was going really nice untill June,But suddenly it stopped working and Battery cant get charged.I am keeping it for charging whole the time since last 15 days and suddenly it started working yesterday.Battery signal shows empty and it says 'the temperature is lower than the operating temperature of the phone,functionality is limited'.Cannot remove it from the power,battery goes off.Is it a battery problem or what?

    Hi vetprof.

    It sure sounds like the battery has died. I reckon the batteries are a real weak point with the U8150 anyway - I mean having to charge every day seems a bit much. OK I'm used to it now but was wondering how many times they could be recharged before they eventually failed altogether.

    Waste of time I know, but I wrote to Huawei suggesting they consider a beefier battery (like the 3900mAh aftermarket battery I've seen). Anyway I reckon you should just try a new battery. Maybe you could go to some shop where they sell the U8150 and twist their arm into at least letting you try a working battery.

    Hi Paul,Yes,It WAS a battery problem.Got new battery from tardeme and the problem is resolved.I think this NZ winter doesnt suit to chinese battery.Lets see how many more batteries I will have to get untill winter finishes.lols.

    Glad you got it sorted and it was just the battery. I'll bet your battery failure has less to do with NZ winter conditions and more to do with manufacturing quality/defects and/or the number recharge cycles required since you bought the phone.

    I saw a battery and charger on TradeMe, but the battery was only rated 1050mAh, not even as much as the original 1200mAh. If some company (like Mugen Power) can produce an aftermarket 3900mAh battery then surely so could Huawei.

    Pretty sure Huawei could care less about battery quality and customer satisfaction, the goal likely being to produce and sell as many U8150 units as cheaply as possible. Still I thought that if people bugged them enough that there was a chance that they might consider offering a uprated battery...

    I was charging up our U8150 and thinking more about your dead battery - if you've only had the unit 6 or 7 months then isn't it still under warranty?

    Even though you have now bought a battery off TradeMe, might be worth taking the dead battery back to the shop where you bought it or working it out with 2 Degrees or whatever and try to get a replacement battery under warranty...

    Also consider installing CPU Master or SetCPU to vary the clock-speed of your processor according to usage: result: phone lasts 2-4 days per charge, depending on usage and is overclocked 10% during intense use.

    He just had a dead battery and fixed it with a new one.

    However, I have heard that battery life between charges can be improved doing as you suggest. I gather that it involves "rooting" the phone - is that correct? Unfortunately I also heard that doing so voids the warranty. Maybe I'll try it after the warranty runs out.

    Yes it requires the phone to be rooted and yes that voids the warranty. Apparently the phone can be unrooted, in case you need to send it back. There may be some faults which would prevent you from unrooting it but you may wish to consider the likelihood. I rooted mine straight away and don't regret it. It would be a shame to go without this functionality for a year but it's up to each owner to decide. Good luck, either way.
