Thunderbolt to Maxx

Has anyone gone from the Thunderbolt to the Maxx? If so how is the signal? The only reason I would upgrade is if the Maxx gets a better signal.

Also is there anything you miss from the Bolt?

Mark - I'm in the same boat. I have seen several posts where folks have upgraded from the Rezound (ThunderBolt 2) to the Maxx - and it sounds like a marked (no pun intended) improvement.

I haven't had either VZW HTC device, but have had HTC in the past. Blur (moto ui) is much quicker, and somewhat simpler than sense. I like the hardware and radios in the razr as well. It really is a matter of preference. The rezound and the razr have very similar specs. If you are a fiend for flashing new roms, be aware that the bootloader is locked on moto devices. Meaning there are not many options (at this point) for custom roms.

Any specific questions, post em up, and I'll try to help....

I am in the same situation, my thunderbolt is rooted, but there isn't that many new Rom's being developed.
My upgrade date with VZW is after 4/11/12. I have done some looking online, And I feel I am differently going to upgrade to the Razr Maxx. (I have to go to the store and play with it too).
Also with the boot loader that's locked, I don't think I am going to root my phone. There are apps out there for tethering and stuff w/o root.
My big thing is like one of the other posts stated freedom from dead batteries. I have been pissed at my TB that past few days b/c of the battery.

Thanks again

Chris

I previously had the Thunderbolt and went to the Maxx. I can say that in my area of El Paso, Texas/Fort Bliss, the signal has improved dramatically. I am stationed on the far East portion of Fort Bliss, and there were times with my Thunderbolt that I either would get no signal at work, 1X for a signal, or even roaming to a Mexico cell phone signal. Since I have moved to the Maxx, I have had a pretty steady 4G signal. There are times that it may cut out, but that is few and far between now. Just my experience.

i came from a TBolt. had my MAXX 2 days and i think i'm returning it.

my bolt was rooted and had the latest Sense GB. it was getting shorter battery life because it was a release day Bolt and time has taken it's toll on the Batt.

the screen on my bolt was better than the MAXX to my eyes.
batt life was bad on my Bolt, but manageable
kickstand is top notch
feels more comfortable in my hands (i'm 6'2")

the MAXX is a great phone but just not enough to pay $300... i think i might wait until Christmas time for the next batch of "must haves"

i was actually waiting the the GNex but that is also not appealing to me...

ugh

Just came from a Thunderbolt.
Battery life seems to be pretty good.
I was getting decent battery life with my Thunderbolt while using the Rezound battery.
I do notice that the Maxx seems a bit faster in performance. Especially the address book. I have about. 3,000 contacts. My address book would be somewhat laggy on my Thunderbolt. No lag at all on the Maxx.
I still miss the kickstand on my TB.
I'm now able to get a 4G signal at home. My Thunderbolt could only get 4G from the 4G tower that's several miles from my home.

I went from TB to Maxx. I loved my TB, all except for the battery.

The Maxx is more capable AND I dont have to think about power. EVER really. Only when I'm using it a LOT (ie streaming movies or radio on it) at work where I have a poorer signal does the battery drop at a concerning rate.

When I'm at home where I have wifi or 4G, I can leave it on all day and night without plugging in

Take the ThunderBolt )with extended battery) to the casino today Was on the charger until 11:00. . Checked email a few times - Words With Friends - and streaming Pandora. Met for lunch at 1:30. By 2:30 - the battery was in the yellow - I think I have it set @ 30%.

Having to cripple a phone to get thru the day is like a Swiss Army Knifw - WITH ONE BLADE!!

I'm waiting for the Fighter!!

I just went from thunderbolt to RAZR maxx and im not happy. Im in a 3g area yet. 2 big things ive noticed is i cannot browse the web while on a phone call. The other issue is i cannot have the mobile hotspot up and talking on the phone at the same time. I dont know if i can run wifi and have a phone call at the same time? I read in a forum that if your in a 4g area you can surf and talk at the same time???? Over all maxx does beat thunderbolt hands down for speed and battery life its like nothing ive seen in a smart phone. Ive gone 2 days without charging it. Wish i would of researched first. Anyone with info that knows if this changes on 4g let me know.

Thanka
