I thought it would be fun to see which apps everyone just thinks makes their Droids better. And it could also be helpful to some new people that are just beginning to root to give them an idea of what apps they might like or need to try.

I can't decide on my favorite browser. I keep switching between stock, xScope, and Dolphin HD. I also like Wireless Tether although I don't need it on a daily basis. Oh, and did I mention Swype?

^ Nice list and I have many of those same apps, but haven't seen a task killer fan in awhile. Did you see that 2.2 includes a pseudo task killer built in under Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->Running?

+1000...frankly, before Launcher Pro I never knew how great my Droid was supposed to be. Shame on Google for not being able to unleash what one lone dev did on his own on nights and weekends.

And I don't type on my Droid if I don't have Swype installed. It's a must.

LauncherPro + FolderOrganizer is pretty legit as far as UI goes. Top apps? Can't say, I have almost 200 and I use many of them on a daily basis.

WOW, I haven't used Swype since speech-to-text came out. I just hit the microphone button and dictate my texts now. Haven't looked back. My 0.02 :)

It's not in the market. Go to Droid-Life.com, hit the downloads section and download it to your computer. Mount your Droid, move the apk. to your SD card and use Astro File manager to install it. After you install it, go into settings, language and keyboard and enable swype. The next time you're entering text, hold your finger on the input section and "input method" will pop up. Choose swype.
