There is a new update to Swype. I need to uninstall the old one before downloading the update. I went to Settings → Applications → Manage Applications → Swype → Uninstall... but there is no option to uninstall. Just Force Stop and Clear Data. I tried two other apps to uninstall it, but after hitting uninstall, they both say "could not uninstall"

    Any ideas?

Unless ur rooted there is no way to update swype since it came pre-installed.

if swype came with your phone stock, the only way to update it will be with an OS update. Very sad, cause i have the same issue with my X. Would love to be on the newest swype version.

You can uninstall with Titanium backup. Then re-boot , install new.
    You must be rooted.
