Oh yea, and I forgot to mention that it gives you the option to completely restrict background data, or you can restrict background data on individual apps.

I had the same exact problem in June. My boyfriend checked my DataManager and noticed that the gmail app that came as a factory setting on my phone was constantly refreshing... CONSTANTLY. He pulled that app off my phone and we installed a different one, and no problems since.
