What was that App?

A while ago, I had an app that would tell me where, (what state) an unknown caller was calling from, but I can't remember what app it was. Can anyone help me. I really liked that.

I use Number Guru, not perfect but pretty handy plus, free.

Nope, it was neitherr of those, but THANKS. This app automatically displayed the location right below the number. Like if a call came from the 203 area code, it said California right under the number.

At one point back in my dumb phone days there was a pre loaded app called city id that does what your describing

FYI for those who are curious, CityID is a pre-installed app that Verizon includes on most (if not all) of their handsets. Most ROM developers consider this to be 'bloatware' and will strip it out of the ROM. Or if you moved from Verizon to another carrier, it would likely not be pre-installed on a new phone.

I did a quick search in the market for 'areacode' and got back something called Instant Area Code that kind of looks like what you're describing.

Very useful until the 30-60 day trial ended and they wanted you to subscribe to the service. Unfortunately it still runs and uses data even when you are no longer subscribed to the service and being baked into the official firmware you couldn't (until ICS) freeze it or remove it without rooting. I think that is why I (most) considered it bloat.

Now this was 1+ year ago when I had my D2 so maybe it has changed. But that is the way I remember it.

OH well, I guess it isn't THAT important, I just liked it.
It wasn't CityID as I don't have now, nor have ever had, Verizon.
It wasn't something that I had to look up, it was just automatic.

YUP, not there......

I remeber one app that MIGHT be it, but I don't remember the name. It was a RED icon with a telephone on it.
Does anyone have that?
