Why must I "crop" wallpapers?

SO, experimenting with my new Galaxy S3, I've been using different photos and art as home and lock screens. I am always prompted to crop them, even when they're pretty small to begin with. Is there a way to turn that crop function off? Also, what are some good sites for free backgrounds, wallpapers, lock screen pics, etc.?

put a hugh black background around your pics to solve that.

The native resolution of the SIII is 1280x720 which has an aspect ratio of 0.563. Cropping allows you to maintain the aspect ration so you do not get deformed images as background wallpaper.

Actually Touchwiz on the SIII doesn't allow scrolling wallpaper. You have to install another launcher to get scrolling wallpapers on the SIII.

As someone said, TW on the s3 doesn't allow scrolling, but you can install a different launcher.

Also, I use multi picture live wallpaper. I don't have to crop anything. It will use a picture as is to make the wallpaper.

Any time Ive had a problem with a crop, toos the image in paint and give it a 2-3in wide black boarder fixes it so I can crop the right area with out zooming.

always been the easiest way over a program.

what i do is bring the picture up you want in the gallery.. make sure nothing else is on the screen. do a screen shot. then you can put that whole picture of the screen shot as a wallpapper
