    I've had my Milestone 2 since it was released last year, but all of a sudden the Wi-Fi has stopped working. I turn it on and most of the time it just fails to connect. Then when it says that it is connected it's actually not. Has anyone else been having issues? I've not installed anything recently and I've not dropped it or anything.

    I know it's not my router as my laptop and a couple of other android mobiles will connect fine, plus it won't connect at work either.

    Have you tried simply power-cycling the phone?

    Have you tried removing the remebered networks and connecting using the key again?

    If that does not help, you can always back your data up and do a hard reset. I bet that would help.

    I have had mine for quite a few months too but never had such problems.

    Yeah, I've power-cycled it a couple of times and also removed all known networks and re-added them. Sometimes it will say connected, but it will not actually be connected at all. What do you mean by hard-reset?

    Hard reset means restoring the phone to its factory state. This means deleting all user data and applications.

    To do this you need to turn the phone off, hold the X key andPower key until you see a triangle with an exclamation mark inside and then press @ sign. Use rrows to select wipe and press ok.

    Is there anyway of backing up my stuff? Mainly just my config settings, apps and games I'm not too bothered about.

    You can try Titanium Backup or something like that, but most of these apps require root.

    I never really backup settings as it does not really take that long to restore them.

    I might just write them all down and do it that way instead. I've found that if I am standing right next to my router it will connect fine and then work all round my house. But if I try to connect from another room (even tho the signal is strong) it will try to authenticate / obtain IP and then just fail. Very very strange!

    I think this is not the phone's fault.

    Reset the phone and see what happens.

    I have 2 laptops, 2 desktops, an iPhone, a HTC Wildfire and a Samsung Galaxy that all connect up fine no matter where I am in the house. I definately think its the phone.

    Try reseting it, no other way to check.

    I of course assume you have tried power-cycling the router.

    You will have to reset the phone to check where the problem is.

    Well, that didn't seem to work. :( I'm at a bit of a loss as to what else it could be, nothing has changed at all and all of a sudden the wi-fi stops working.

    There must be something, as I mentioned, the issue did not seem to stem from the phone's inability to connect if it connects when next to the router.

    If I were you I would check the router's settings for ABGN bands and made sure the right ones are enabled.

    I'm not very good with routers. I have a netgear and have been through all settings I can see. Even next to the router i have to try and connect a couple of times.

    Either the phone is defective - which I highly doubt, or there is something in the router settings or something lik that.

    hmmm...I'm starting to agree with you about it not being the phone. I've messed about with my router, gave it a reset, and updated the firmware on it, but its still the same. I've tested both the wireless networks at work and they connect fine no matter where I am in the building. Very odd!

    Have the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy 3 !
    Tryed everything you did and still it does not work, there must be something ...
    I have been stuck with this for a few days now - left a post pretty much same as yours but no reply, please post any progress or new ideas on how to fix this!
    Also if you didnt try that already try to change the chanells of the WLAN settings in the router - there was a guy on some other forum that solved it that way.

    Have you got a spare router you could try and use? Maybe take one from someone you know? Configure i tfor your network and try then?

    I've just done a firmware update (even tho the phone was saying it was up to date) and it seems to be a bit better. I'll see what happens for a couple of days and report back. While I was Google-ing I found an app called "wifi fixer", which might be of use to you zlimagus.

    Hello!

    About the router, I might be able to get one next week and im thinking that would solve the problem since every other wifi spot is working, about 5-6 ones.
    About the app - I got it a yesterday and it didnt really help, i got the impression that its ment to solve some sleep problems that androids have, but thanks anyway! I tryed to mess around with more router settings but nothing is really working, im starting to get the idea that it might be too old or it simply does not support phone wifi ....

    Have you tried updating your phone? On my handset it was saying it was up to date, but then when I tried a manual update from my PC it said an update was available.

    I was testing the WiFi at home this morning and it seems to be a lot more stable, like it was before I had issues.

    You simply reflashed the phone. A goo idea if hard-reset does not help.
