Anyone yet find a method of using the wii controller with the Evo. This is a big thing for me as this is my first phone that can actually run video game emulators FAST!

Now I just need a control, and all the ones on the market seem to not work with the Evo.

    Who else wants this?

I can't get it to work *grumble* - I'm guessing because we have SenseUI.. :(

It seems we need a pure android 2.1 rom. Someone try installing 2.2 and see if you can get it working.

I did already but bluetooth doesn't work for some reason when I flash to 2.2...

So the Wiimote won't work if you turnoff Sense?

Ooooh - I want it, I want it.

At first I thought this was about flung and flying EVO's.

Gotta read the engadget article to appreciate the thread.

Hopefully the Wii Connect folks can fix this? I do NOT want to turn off Sense nor install a custom rom, I want the official Sprint roms always.

It's not something the Wiimote guys can fix it seems. It's an issue with HTC's bluetooth implementation. He basically can't connect to the Wiimote at all; it's out of his hands.

Without installing a custom Rom, using a Wii controller may not be possible anytime soon. I'm assuming the developers priority is to work on rooted applications.

    its not hard, root!!

Well, when I do a BT scan from the phone, it shows the controller but then it prompts me for a password. 0000 and 1234 don't work. *sigh*

I have root, will that help me any??

Unfortunately root in itself does not help, but provides the ability to load custom roms which will help, assuming one comes out free of sense ui.

Anyone flash to froyo and are able to turn on Bluetooth please try the wiimote app and see if it works.

I have EVOlution V8 (froyo) running on my EVO and no dice. It detects the wiimote in the bluetooth pairing settings but asks for a password to pair - and neither Wii IME or Wii Controller recognize the wiimote. It seems odd that I can see it in my settings and just not pair with it though...

Send a quick email to alert them of this problem, they don't seem to care or know from what I got,

HTC - Support - Customer Service - Support via e-Mail

God I love idiotic customer service reps!

Sometimes the only thing I think they are there for is to be a sacrifical wall against customers...

If you get a true AOSP Android ROM, that should fix the issue as HTC uses proprietary drivers with Sense and the AOSP (assuming CM) uses their own custom stack which works.

The gamepro drivers supposedly work with the evo, but you have to use a different Bluetooth controller with them

Has anyone tried the gamepro drivers or a true AOSP Android ROM?
