I am planning a trip to Australia with my family early next year, is it possible to use my Triumph with CM-7 while we are visiting Australia.
I guess the Wi-Fi might work, but what about making calls back to the US, or all phone functions for that matter..

Not likely. Sprint uses a CDMA network, which is a technology that no other country uses.

Having had a bit of a dig for you...

If you are a Sprint customer and want to use their service overseas, you will need to either rent a cell phone or buy a cell phone that is compatible for international travel. Sprint rents and sells phones that have GSM capabilities, but if you buy a GSM enabled phone from Sprint, you will have to get the phone unlocked.

It won't work.
Not only is Sprint cdma and the rest of the world uses gsm, vm does not allow roaming.
Wi-Fi is fine... so that means you could use voip.

Guess I will rent an international cell phone while we are there, it looks like a good idea. any one have any thoughts?

I expect the cheapest route would be to buy a cheap, UNLOCKED gsm phone here, and pick up a SIM for it from a local provider when you arrive.

No idea what it costs to rent a phone, but I bet you can buy one before you leave for $20-30, maybe less.

Find a cheap unlocked dumbphone and when you get there buy a cheap pay-as-you-go SIM for a month. Friend of mine did this and itcost him about $40.
