did it give you options for always allow.. never allow etc..?? if so... pick one of the options... if not.. then turn on USB debugging and it should prompt you.

Thanks I had to enable USB debugging. Do I have turn on USB debugging when I have wifi tether or it is OK to leave on all the time?

Resolved: I installed the 1.61 htc pre1 version and have had no problems other than the unsecured network thing.

I'm using the version that came installed with Fresh 1.1 ROM after I rooted my phone. I'm not if there are other in the market.

Question, I know this might have been answered. I like to know if I wireless tether for few hours (e.g 3 - 4 hr) per days is there a way Sprint can find out that I'm tethering instead of my phone for data use?

very few questions are stupid (my 16yr old asks the stupid ones all the time)...


tethering comes in handy if your internet source is out but you still have 3g... in my case... I do a LOT of on call/after hours work for my job... I'm required to be near an internet source so I can remote into our clients servers and fix their problems.. this allows me to go anywhere I get a signal and still be able to connect to a server if needed... or if I'm at the airport and need to transfer a file or send an email through my work email (Lotus Notes YUCK!) but don't want to pay for the WiFi that they provide... I can tether...

the Wireless part allows you to provide internet to multiple WiFi devices at the same time... that's the one thing that wired tethering can't do...

ok i am a bit scattered...i want to do wifi tethering but i here things like, i have to root my phone 1st then get some type of rom or download an app? so where do i start? can someone point me in the right direction? do i have to backup the apps already in my hero?

of course if you don't want to root... just download the PDANet software and do a wired tether using your USB cord to a PC or laptop..
