Hi - Other than using Odin, any idea how to fix my Kies issue "your device does not support software upgrading via kies"?

I've read a few tips regarding the resetting of CSC, but I don't really understand in great detail what or why. My Galaxy Ace is:

on Vodacom (South Africa). Supplied by Vodacom. I have made no firmware changes (or anything).

PDA S5830XWKPU
PHONE S5830XWKP7
CSC S5830XFVKP1

It's on 2.3.3. I'm hoping to upgrade to 2.3.4 via Kies.

I have downloaded the very latest Kies from samsung's site, and done a fresh install. I get the message:

your device does not support software upgrading via kies.

I received this phone from the network provider (Vodacom) and have not changed anything.

Please advise?

Thanks
Seraphin

My Ace was locked to Orange UK and it updated to 2.3.4 a month or so ago. It has since been SIM unlocked, flashed to various Roms (including Cyanogenmod 7 Kang) and back again to Froyo 2.2.1 - I get bored easily!

Its only now that I'm getting the same message on KA7. So I think that your provider is irrelevant. It should work.

its simple, you need to change CSC code,im using SGS2 i9100G and before this my SGS2 CSC code is KOR but i live in Malaysia so i need to change it,Malaysia CSC code is XME,so you need to find your CSC that same as your region, google it to find the CSC code region..to change CSC just type *#272*IMEI# then choose your region CSC..BEWARE!after you install new CSC it will factory data automatically, but after that you can update your phone via kies, its work on my phone now.. :)

This didn't change anything for me on my new Galaxy S 2. I still can't update firmware using Kies. Is there any other way to update the firmware?

Hi guys,
I have the same problem with Kies (mac) saying that my sgs2 is unsupported. I've tried changing the region code and when I enter the command and my Imei number only these three CSC are available: VNO,TTT,TDR... I've tried all three of them and kies still gives me that message. Im using my sgs2 through ATT as a go phone/prepaid. I've tried the OTA, but it says theres no update either. I'm currently on 2.3.4. Any suggestions?? Thanks

I read on another forum somewhere that kies will not update your phone if it is rooted. Maybe try to un-root then re-try. I dont know if this is true or not.

This could be the issue, Un root and try again. SGS2 users can update OTA anyway if there is a network provided update.

This happened with mine when i wanted to change back as the baseband changed.

lets just go through it once more

I am on O2 network in the UK with a SGS2 and have had the Kies 'your phone does not support upgrading' message for months and still have had no assistance from either O2 or Samsung themselves.

I have entered the *#272* code followed by IMEI and get to the preconfig screen however the code is correct from what has been posted (XEU for UK).

Also when on the preconfig screen there are not any further 3 letter codes to input nor is there a keyboard to enable me to input a new one (perhaps the CPW code)

If anybody has any further assistance please get in contact soon as I am patently aware that ICS is due soon and I would hate to have that delayed by this issue.
