Please tell me that there is a quicker way to power off my phone. I think that its slowly driving me nuts. Long press on power button ... do you want to power off ( yes !! ) ... are you sure? ( Yess damned it !!!! ) ...

I did look at the Galaxy wiki and there was a code to put in the dialer to do this. It doesn't seem to be working with Galaxo.

pull out the battery. there's nothing that could go wrong, as far as I know.

Well, it would work, but removing the cover plate, battery and then placing the cover plate back would probably be as long as just turning it off, don't you think? And with repeated use, the cover plate will probably break, as it's made of plastic.

You should try looking for widgets. I think Power Off would do that, but it costs 99 cents. Never tried it though.

EDIT: Same for Reboot Control Widget, which also costs a dollar. Both of them require Root access.

If you open just slightly to stop power supply, and close the lid it will only reset the phone, you need to remove battery for 1sec so it don't start again.

Lid will break, mine is broken from just hitting the phone against table on volume side of phone.

But screen is really durable since I hit it every day cause there is something force closing every ~minute (app.settings / handcent.messaging.app / every app is force closing since i installed galaxo 1.6.2)

Best way to shut down is to pay for some app, or to suggest galaxo to implement it in some next update.. :)

Why would you want to, out of interest? I think the only time I've turned mine off is either when it's crashed or I've been desperately short on battery.

I have no cell service at my house. Tends to deplete the battery rather quickly. I also think its rather silly to have triple confirmation that you want to turn off your phone. Paid apps aren't an option at the moment.

Suppose I could do that, but then if I get that far, I may as well just turn it off. It would be really nice if all I had to do was a long press on the power button to turn it off. That would be the ideal solution for me.

Here it is if someone else wants to try it:
ShutDown.App

*#*#7594#*#* You can enable shutdown on End call long press. Normally, a long press on End Call/Power will display a menu with Silent Mode, Airplane mode, and Power off.

Hi, first of all, I totally agree with your issue - triple confirmation is totally daft.

The facetious suggestion to remove the battery is just that. As for the comment to just plug it in - well I may not want or be able to all the time. As for a situation where I'd want to turn it off - well I work as an Air Traffic Controller and you may think we're banned from using mobiles but we're not. Nevertheless I want to turn mine off as it interferes with the radios (nothing dangerous but annoyingly loud intermittent static noise). In addition I want to save battery and Airplane mode will still drain it - these smart phones suck a lot of juice compared to my old dumb phone that could last 7 days without charging!

By the way weasel, if I use *#*#7594#*#*
is there a way I can revert back to good ol' triple confirmation? (If it will even work for me - I have an Orange San Francisco aka ZTE Blade).
Also, I presume it gets rid or the options screen entirely rather than just the 3rd and final confirmation? (I would be happy with the option screen as the 2nd & last confirmation ideally)

Cheers for any help

Well I tried *#*#7594#*#* multiple times and it didn't work. I think it may have something to do with Galaxo. Of all of the searching I did on the situation, nothing I found suggested there was a way to get back. The only thing I can think of would be a Nandroid backup. Now if you want to try GAOSP, there is an option to remove the final confirmation. Just found that the other day. So a long press brings up the menu, select power off and its off. Nice to have.
