Accounts & Sync --> Facebook Not Working

I would love some help with this if anyone can figure out what's going on.

I have the FB for Android app installed. I am rooted with Bugless Beast. I was trying to add FB as a sync account through settings-->accounts & sync, but when I click add account-->FB, nothing happens. Then I logged out of the FB app, and my attempt to add a sync account would bring me to the login screen. I can log in, but the account doesn't show up in my list of sync accounts. And I'm back to nothing happening when I do add account-->FB.

When I go to a contact, in the sync and gallery screens both say to log in to FB to link. In the sync screen, nothing happens when I tap. In the gallery screen, it pulls up a loading screen that stays up indefinitely.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the FB app, and that made no difference. Right now, I'm syncing my pictures using SyncMyPix, but I would like full integration of my contacts and FB friends. I'd appreciate any help getting this to work.

hey ejchis,

been having the same problem on my rooted droid running bugless beast. to fix it i went into the facebook app itself, and navigated to the settings menu at the home screen. at the bottom you'll see sync contacts under "Other Settings"

Thanks for the response. When I go into the settings and go to the bottom, all I have under "Other Settings" is "Helpful Tips." No option to sync contacts appears. I just downloaded the most recent FB app from the market before trying this. Not sure why I don't have that option.

Facebook for Android is horrid.... It wont update unless you auto update it yourself... Forget getting notified in the task bar.... Not gonna happen....

That was basically where I had ended up after having no luck fixing this. I got SyncMyPix back up and running (it had died on me, prompting my motivation to fix the android sync option), deleted the facebook app, and started using touch in the browser. Maybe that's where I best belong.

Non rooted. Mine syncs. The app does suck.

I also get task bar notifications, but that may have to do with selecting HTC Sense on my Facebook account settings. Wasn't sure what it was going to do, but, since that's what I'm using, I checked it.. heh.

Sorry - off topic, but, I would like to know why if someone adds a picture to their Gmail account after they've been added as a contact on my phone, why my phone won't pick up their added Gmail picture.

The Gmail App sucks as well. I haven't figured out a way to have a damn email fit to screen. Hero did just fine.

isnt the facebook sync what kills your battery?
