Root Lost my root?

So, I had my phone rooted and I accidentally (stupidly) hit volume down and power instead of volume up and power ( I was going to flash a new ROM). I was asked to press action and update like I did the first time I rooted but after it was finished I tried to go and flash a ROM it just brought me to a screen with an android robot and a triangle with an exclamation point.

What I need to know is do I need to re-root and if not what do I need to do?

Well, you left out a couple of crucial details, so I'll play a guessing game.

1) I'm guessing that your phone initially had a pre-1.49.xxx bootloader (either 1.47.0000 or 1.46.0000), and your initial root was performed by placing a PB00IMG.ZIP file in the root folder of your SD card and starting up HBOOT (w/Vol-Down+End) This is the original rooting method.

2) I'm guessting that the PB00IMG.ZIP file on your SD card was the Root-ROM, md5sum 63eacc5ede3b179f95dc22d8ef585f94.

If both those statements are true, then all you did was to re-root your phone, which wiped out the Amon_RA recovery (assuming you had that on your phone), plus whatever ROM you had installed (and replaced it with a very old, buggy, but rooted version of 2.1) You may check this by going in to fastboot mode (start phone by pressing both Send & End/Power at the same time, and verify that you have the root bootloader on the phone - HBOOT version 1.49.2000.)

If you have any Nandroid backups, they are still there on the SD card, and all you need to do is to re-flash the Amon_RA recovery, e.g.

fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-eris-v1.6.2.img

(The md5sum signature of Amon_RA v1.6.2 for the Eris is e3932991f097993602af3c7a4b61a4f8 )

and you are back in business - either restore a ROM from a nandroid backup, or install a new one off the SD card (after doing a "Wipe data/factory reset" in the Amon_RA "Wipe" sub-menu).

Probably you should also re-name the PB00IMG.zip file on the SD card to anything but it's current name (for instance ROOT-ROM-PB00IMG.ZIP) so that you don't have the same accident later.

BTW, you don't need to hit the "accept" key - you could have just pulled the battery.

Oops, forgot to mention one thing: your phone needs to be in fastboot mode in order for that fastboot command to work (Send+End)... and of course, you need drivers installed & working on the (Windows) PC, too.

That might have been obvious to you, but I thought I should mention it, just in case.
