Root Waiting for UnrEvoked?

Hi, Just wondering who all is still waiting for the one click unrEvoked root? Surely I'm not the only one... lol

I am. I tried every guide on this forum in order to root except buying the pny card and had no luck. I hope it comes soon because I could really use the LED flashlight app.

There's a good LED flashlight app that does not require root. Works well except it sometimes freezes up my phone for a good 15sec after, turning off
Its just called incredible led flashlight.

I was able to access it with the stock 2 gig card, try to put it in right after the end of the disconnect sound. I used an older computer and after trying the 1-2 seconds a couple of times, I was able to get it first try trying right after the sound.

i 110% agree. the drivers are key to the puzzle. i spent hours trying to root with different cards, in/out trick, loop and what not. then got the right drivers...typed in adb shell...worked first try. had i known that from the beginning it would have taken 5 minutes to root, rather than 4 hours and 5 minutes

It was the PDAnet drivers, airplane and usb debug mode that got me root. No method worked with the google drivers. Did not try the UR drivers.

well there are two options:

first is waht he said -->

second is what i did: i used the sdk to install the v3 drivers. i did this by going to "available packages" within the sdk, click the + box to bring up the packages list, then selecting the v3 drivers (at the bottom of the list i reckon). the drivers will be installed in your sdk folder. i then modified the drivers downloaded as per instructions somewhere in this forum. i then put phone into bootloader, connected to comp, found device in "device manager" manually pointed to downloaded/modified drivers in sdk folder, updated the drivers, then went into recovery, did the whole cmd prompt set up, typed in adb shell, and presto....root. done

note: after entering recovery it installed new drivers by itself, took about 30-45 seconds, i just let it sit there for a min, then typed in "adb shell" and it worked the second i hit the enter key...

Unrevoked team: Incredible Root process
Soon is on the matter of days, not "weeks or months" as has been said. The root we have works, perfectly, reliably, and consistently. We just have to package it up (and make sure HTC won't find it for a while )

We are doing so. I expect progress this weekend--we have day jobs, and can't work on this quite as much during the week.

Once again, however, we don't want to give an ETA. But it's not like we haven't found anything.

I have a friend that couldn't root with the stock sync driver. we told him that he should use the unrevoked driver. he got root right away after installing the unrevoked driver.

there is more to it than that though. i was able to root mine first attempt. i did it on an iMac running Win7-64. i used the unrevoked driver, a 16GB micro sd that i normally use in my phone. i just followed the sticky video in this forum... no problem.

after i rooted my phone i grab another incredible, put my memory card in it, same computer, same driver, same everything.... i can not root it. i only tried for about 10 mins, but i tried 3 different ways 4 times each.

these things are temperamental.

it would seem to be a very specific timing issue. There's a window of opportunity that allows for rooting to occur and its chances are greatly increased the slower the memory card you have. Unfortunately i have a class 6 (who woulda thought i'd be hating that? ironic ain't it).

If you log 'dmesg' command under abd shell in '$_' mode under normal phone operation, you can see when the 2 things they talk about in above thread occur (abd warning message and sd card check). Not sure if im not understanding it correctly but it would appear that there's only a .1 second time-frame when it'll work.

There's so many variables too! I spent the last 2 hours averaging times from dmesg, I've found the most consistent times with those 2 values occurring when the phone is turned off through software and turned on by power button (not a battery pull!). Battery pull causes random times with SD card check. I've verified this myself (along with another dude in xda-developer forum).

So i tried delaying SD card insertion by time constant x=10s (from the time the phone initially vibrates when turned on and white screen shows) and seeing how it affects my SD card check time. Compared to having the sd card in from the very beginning, I saw an increase of roughly 2.5 seconds. Now these timings, would, i think, be very particular to computer, system, sd card, phone, etc. So I doubt the timing could be global for everyone.

So i tried only 3 times and am seriously just about fed up lol. The one thing to notice is that the time i've calculated through these tests is that it coincides with the blip/screen artifact that occurs on the white htc screen.

So maybe someone else would like to try or maybe we should all just wait, im kinda mad i spent this much time on it today lol.

i know how u guys feel i tried for 3 days but then one night i tried the click method and it magically worked but this was a while ago... it seems so difficult then out of nowhere it works
