Root Problems rooting a Droid on Linux with sbf_flash

So I'm obviously doing something wrong. I want to root my Droid and install Froyo, however, I only have access to a Linux box (or I'm too lazy to set up a VM for windows.) I'm trying to follow the various myriad of instructions at:

http://androidforums.com/all-things...oot-related-currently-under-construction.html

And I'm trying to use sbf_flash from:

OPTICALDELUSION: sbf_flash

However, when I put my Droid into the Bootloader mode. sbf_flash bombs out:

Code:
./sbf_flash VZW_A855_ESD56_QSC6085BP_C_01.3E.01P_SW_UPDATE_03.sbf
SBF FLASH 0.01 (mbm)

So is that just a problem with the sbf_flash, or do I need to set something differently with my phone. I have 2C.6C version of the Bootloader. Running Android 2.1, stock from Verizon.

Of course, if I try to upgrade, I get the message:

Code:
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command

-- Install from sdcard...

E:E0CD marker occurs after start of E0CD

Any suggestions?
