Root Installing HTC stock keyboard on non-Sense ROM?

I've been trying to search around but I'm not coming up with anything... Is this possible to do? I miss being able to long-press a key to get its "shift" key (numbers, symbols, etc) instead of having to press the 123 key to switch layouts every time. I also liked how the "click" sound wasn't as loud as the typewriter-like sound on the non-Sense keyboard... yes I like to have the sound and vibrate on - makes it feel like more of a button press instead of nothing ;)

I tried Swype before and still ended up going back to the HTC keyboard before I rooted. Are there any similar options? (or can I find the HTC keyboard apk anywhere??)

Thanks in advance!

Awesome! This looks just like it, except it's missing the "Hide Keyboard" button (I guess I can just use the back button), and I can't figure out how to get the clicking sound to work :(
It says "Default HTC" which I'm guessing doesn't exist on my phone because it's not a Sense-based ROM... When I try to select a sound, it tells me to enter the path to the SD card... Think I can do a nandroid restore from a previous one and locate it on the SD card, then save it and reflash back? Or would this sound already be there since I've had Sense installed before? I'm not sure what it would be called or where to find it, but it's worth a shot!

Both "clicker" and "HTC IME" have to be installed. I think the order is important too, but I can't recall it at the moment...

Ah, I was wondering what "clicker" was... I'll try it out. Thanks!

EDIT: Alright, I installed Clicker and still no sound... uninstalled both, then did Clicker first, followed by HTC_IME, still no luck... any ideas?

Sound and the keyboard ? No idea... I would turn it off if I had sound. :D

Yep I love the clicking sound for some reason... click & vibrate... closest I can get to tactile feedback for button presses. I feel like something is missing when I type and don't hear/feel anything :D

Anyway, I still can't figure out how to get sound on this keyboard... boooooo :(

Other than that one little thing, it's exactly what I wanted though... and pretty customizable too ;)
