I talked with my local vzw shop and they told me that i could buy the droid x on the 15th for full retail, but i would have to activate it before i could leave the store.

3 days and counting..

I should be getting my droid incredible replacement on the same day, and will be selling the incredible on craigslist shortly there after.

I just wanted to post this info, because someone had mentioned that you had to buy it online and could not buy it in the store when it firsts comes out.

I dont understand how some store can and some stores cant...but I was told by sales that I could yesterday and after reading some here I called and asked for manager and he told me no..and that was for both my local stores..

so I was just saying yall may wanna call and check your local store before going to stand in line...how its legal, to be different rules for different corp stores, is beyond me... I will ask the right person though. doubt I will get a answer... Executive Leadership

It is for the most part up to the manager of the store if they will let you buy a phone outright on day one. Reason is they do not get anything for it really. Their sales people do not get credit for an extented or new account so it hurts the store. So some managers say no. It stinks but when things hurt both your sales force and your store numbers as a manager you just want to say no. I can not speak directly how things work at Verizon but I had a good friend that worked for AT&T and this is how it worked there. And most wireless companies are the same as far as this goes or were at the time 3 years ago.
