Email on 3UK

Hi,
sorry if this has been posted before - my searches didn't come up with anything (it's annoying not being able to search for just '3')

I am not able to send emails over 3G on the 3 network, here in the UK. Receiving is fine and everything is good when connected to wi-fi. 3 say that the default server port (i forget what number) is not suitable, but their suggestion of using another doesn't work either. Is this because it's not compatible with my email-host?

Any help really appreciated.

3UK are paranoid

Use port 587 for smtp not port 25.
