"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

So, what's the deal with #12?
It's raining like crazy here in Columbus. Wonder if they have bad weather up in Cleveland as well...?

If I don't win it, lets hope you do...or that other person from this forum that was going after #7 also.

Man, I was all set to be out there, but now I have a work thing for a few hours in the middle of the day. I may send a friend of mine if I can.

As for locations. Either they go famous landmarks and it's at the space needle (high altitude) or Pike Place MArket. They go famous local eateries and your looking at Dicks. (prob the one off 50th) I forget how far you guys were from Seattle, but these seem like good places to look.

Of course, they may go somewhere like Woodland Park Zoo or the Freemont Troll, but my official thought is they send them to a group locally and THEY decide where they will drop it.

While I would LOVE to win this phone, I will gladly settle for someone on this board winning!!!

(Not that its going to be in Cincy) But its raining like crazy in Cincy -- Just checked Cleveland weather and it looks like it has been spotty rain all day up there.

Maybe delaying it a day?

they where giving clues and up dates like crazy then bam nothing. I drove a couple to get here. its just to like it was in the Army hurry up, and wait. Anyone else waiting here in Okc?

Oh yeah, Okc supposed to be today too... Weather good there?

Same with me...I'd have $200 by Thr....but, not $300+ Those stupid F'ing $100 MAIL-IN rebates always piss me off. If it was an instant rebate...at least I wouldn't have to pay the tax on a $299 purchase, just $199. I HATE mail-in rebates...otherwise I'd be able to pick up the Droid X on release day.

Are you a Costco member? They sell it net of the rebate. Plus you get bundled extras, such as a car charger, for free.

Havnt had any rain that i noticed all day.... just cloudy ....

radar shows rain... but its not, yet atleast...

it would be crappy to have to search in the rain, but maybe thats what they want lol

And you only pay tax on the wholesale price of the phone. In CA, that's like half. We are required to pay tax on full retail of the phone, even if we get it at a reduced price. So tack on another $50-$60 for tax if you get it from a store or online in CA. At Costco, you pay the $199 if eligible, tax on the wholesale price, and you get the goodies Mike mentioned...plus they have a great return policy and no restocking fee.:D

I doubt it will be bricktown I'm thinking further north...I'm staking out around the cowboy hall of fame but I live close so I can just wait till the 30 minute warning to drive up their

Hey guys. I'm the lucky guy from Houston who found #10. Stumbled across this site last week after I decided to place a pre-order for my phone. Stumbled across this thread and didn't think much of it until today. My co-worker and I decided that we would "work remotely" at a coffee shop downtown (we live in NW Houston) until the hints started getting posted. We were at Catalina Coffee shop on Washington when the first hint dropped. We drove straight down to Minute Maid Park thinking that's the spot.

We did some laps, waited patiently and saw two other dudes walking around Minute Maid with phones in hand, doing the same thing we were, however they parked their car and were on foot. As soon as the coords were posted, we plugged them into our phones and were off. From Minute Maid we got to the park within 3 minutes. My friend dropped me at the park and I hopped out of the passenger seat and took off running.

I could see people running all over the park, but as soon as I hit the big green field, I just knew that it was going to be somewhere in that multi-colored art piece. I ran right up the first little cubby hole I spotted and saw the #10 flyer sitting right there.

So stoked that I snagged it, as I thought my odds were low that I'd actually be the first one. Anyhow, thanks to everyone there that congratulated me and rest assured that this phone is in the hands of a dedicated fan. I got an early activation form along with the phone and will be heading out after work to activate my contract and drop my ATT contract like a hot potato.

Thanks again to all that were there, I gave a nice shout-out to Androidforums.com in my interview video, so look for it soon on their Twitter account. Also looking forward to becoming more active on this site as I grow to love Android and this phone. Since I found the phone, I'll be keeping it (not ebaying it), but will be helping my friend that came with pay for half of his phone to make it fair. Time to call Verizon and cancel one of my pre-orders! Thanks again for the congrats guys and maybe we'll see you around Houston!

Is there a way to prevent "lurkers" from viewing the forums and getting all the tips and tricks we discuss...and THEN registering and posting!??!?!

Haha, I know I know. I have been looking around for a solid choice for an Android Forum and happened to stumble across this thread last week. At least I did register though and will be posting regularly, rather than someone oblivious to technology getting it and selling it.

Going to the Verizon Store shortly here to activate the phone. I plan on recording a video with the phone and explaining how I found it for all to see. I'll give a shoutout and post here once it's done.
