"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Kind of lost interest since Verizon changed the rules from mental challenge to speed challenge. Their right to do so. Just poorly managed.

i feel like the clues are getting more and more vague.

"downtown Dallas"
"south of I-20"

it's a bit ridiculous. you pretty much have to wait for the GPS coords.-

yeah it is more about speed and the clues are pretty vague.

I already have a great feeling on where #1 is going to be though. It's not hard if you actually look at the pattern of where the rest have been and you consider where #1 is located near.

It's actually going to be a speed race tomorrow here in vegas.

What would be better in my opinion is if they had actually placed these items and gave you clues to find them.

Thing is, even if I think I know where the Vegas location is going to be, I can't go there till tomorrow cause it's not there today lol. Kind of defeats the purpose of a scavenger hunt until it's your day.

Why is it taking them all day to post out the final clue and then GPS?

Like tomorrow for Vegas (which is PST) is it really going to be 4pm PST before they post or more likely in the morning. I'm guessing Morning for Vegas and afternoon for St Louis.

...They wouldn't put it all the way down in the tech center would they?

Lol, is anybody here even hunting the Denver X?

My bro lives in Littleton (South of Denver). Been trying to get him in on it but he's pretty busy. Sometimes I can get him excited about tech and he was asking me about smartphones the last time I talked to him so we'll see.

I was hunting in Denver, hung out in downtown most of the day - Elitch's, mall, Union Station. South Denver this time of day is going to be impossible - its the worst traffic in the city. I am guessing Cherry Creek....but too late for me to get there!

Right next to Smith Lake in the park apparently.

Aww, Washington Park was what I was thinking too... Too bad I couldn't get my brother to answer the phone. :P Good luck to anybody after it.

I wonder if anyone who lives around the park just had a lucky day.

Seriously, checkout all the residential housing around the coordinates...

Yeah, I've been to Washington park a few times and it's VERY residential around it. I never would of thought they'd put it that far S of downtown...

See now they're just throwing me all off for tomorrow's #1. Is designate #1 gonna be close to the strip and casinos or in some park lol.

No way to tell, that's rather annoying. Just a speed race based on GPS.

If anyone from Verizon is reading this: this contest sucked the big one. With clues like "south of I-20" and "south Denver-outdoors" it was not in any way a scavenger hunt or hunt at all really, just a guessing game and then pure random luck you were on top of the Droid when you put out coordinates. Look back at the timing of when these were found in relation to tweets and you will see the pattern. In the beginning there were real clues but you quickly degenerated it into nothing more than who happened to be in the area when the coordinates were given - completely took the fun and challenge out of it. Congrats to everyone who found a phone and I know there were many and VZW didn't have to do this at all. But man whoever advised you on the structure of it is a bonehead, big time and you need a better consultant next time. The good news is, as many have said before, I can turn off the stupid Twitter forever!

Well, I'm headed South...so if Seattle's is in Seattle or anywhere near it...I'm out.
Hoping for Tacoma area and hoping I actually get the tweets on time.

yeah I agree. Not really a true scavenger hunt. Mostly just a PR stunt.

This turns actually players off to the idea. I don't think an outside company was running this, if they were then it was the worst game/contest I have ever seen in the sense of a scavenger hunt.

I played the Repomen ARG earlier this year to promote the movie. That game was run by LonesharkGames and it was well done and very well organized. It was an actual game, hunting for 4 real life people around the country based on the Vanished series on Wired.com.

This game hardly compares, and in reality could have been done much better. Congrats to the winners, but Verizon... please do a better job next time.

The delay in clues and the time between clues.... poor poor poor. This is real time social, so when you post "get ready" at 9am and then it takes you all day to do 3 phones... it kind of stinks.

Been sittin in Seattle all day since 9:30!!!. I must've drove through pike place like 16 TIMES!!! Plus i pissed in a bottle in my car TWICE since there is virtually no parking anywhere...Dedication, or stupidity?

They would wait until the evening to do this dam contest....

Oh, I also got into two fender benders, (rear-ended two ppl), and I almost got into a head on collision on I-5...

So...If i don't find this X, I will literally kill someone!!!!!!!!!!!

Also burned half a tank of gas after a filled it up this morning.....Dam...

C'mon lucky number 7...Bitchass phone...
