Root Rooting with New SD Card?

I'm going to root my phone tonight once home from EMS crew. I want to keep my Stock SD card so that if anything happens I can just pop it back in.

With the new one, will I need to preinstall all current and stock files/folders or will it be formatted once I put it in for the first time pre-root?

Rooting shouldn't effect the SD card (although there have been some reports of image and video files going missing). If you're concerned about losing data off your SD card you can copy the files to your computer before rooting - you don't need to put a new card in.

If you still want to use the new card I'd suggest turning off the phone, swapping cards, then booting with the new card in. Make sure the card is fully mounted (from the home screen go Menu > Settings > SD Card & Phone Storage and is should give you SD card size at the top), then run unrEVOked3.

Good luck.
