Accessories Get the new Seidio rugged case/holster combo or wait for Otterbox???

The wait is killing me and I am now considering going to the Seidio rugged case now that it is out. I do want the Otterbox but am getting tired of waiting....I signed up for an email alert when the Otterbox was available at least a month ago. At that time they stated that Otterbox would be releasing their case/holster combo in the very near future. Having no experience with either of these cases....can anyone who has comment on the likely differences between the two? Thanks

I got the combo rugged Seidio two days ago and I can highly recommend it. From what I've seen of the Otterbox for the iPhone, it is better, even if only for small reasons. I particular like how I have the option of going with a regular case for office time, and the rugged for field work. And I got a holster for each one.

I got tired of waiting for Otterbox, too. Signed up for the Facebook feed and got to see everyone else complaining about it. Since they announced it "Coming Soon" a month ago, don't hold your breath.

I was in the same boat as both of you....waiting for Otterbox to release their Dinc case. I had the rugged case for my BB storm and it protected it very nicely. But could not wait any longer. I just received my Seidio combo today and am very impressed with the design. I just love the design of this kit. For anyone on the fence you might take a look at this kit. Its not cheap....but having the option use the rugged sleeve and holster and the added protection from dust and light water contact make it worth it to me.

I don't know how you can expect us to have a viable reason for the seidio over the otterbox since it hasn't been released. I have the Rugged and holster, but may get rid of it if I see something that the otterbox has, that this one doesn't.

lol....was my thought too.

And yes I was an Otterbox fan too. But they will really have to be over the top for me to give up my Seidio now.

Otterbox....it is the best case I have found.

And where have you FOUND the case for the INC from Otterbox? You haven't! If I have the choice of protecting my phone now with something that is perfectly adequate, vs a product that is non-existent and may never exist...
The choice for everyone shouldn't be that hard. Loyalties can only take you so far.

I researched the Seidio vs Otterbox for other phones and everyone I saw either was a toss up, or there was a slight advantage to Seidio. Otterbox is not likely to have the Rugged Combo, and this is perfect for me.

I have the innocase now, how much bulk/protection would you say the rugged portion adds? Pretty much I'm wondering what the advantages and disadvantages are over the innocase by its self. Thanks in advance!

This is just my thought on that. I have the rugged and the wiff (wife) has the active. I like the active for everyday civilian work, i/e office work. For me, USCG, I need something more durable. The rugged does add alot of bulk to it. So for police, ems, firefighter, construction I would suggest the rugged. At least until the otterbox is released and we have a comparision.

The Innocase is the first layer in the rugged. I don't see it adding much bulk to it, but also think that it fits so tightly, and without any padding inside, to offer any more impact protection than the phone naked.

Just to add to Cuban's post.

The rugged gives you a nice rubber sleeve, support skeleton, and a beefer holster with a locking clip. The sleeve covers all ports and the camera lens...and IMO would offer pretty good protection from dust and most water damage (except from submersion). The sleeve would make it a pain to take pictures....but I'll deal with that knowing my droid is protected.

Love my rugged case. I simply wanted to add bulk and weight to my Dinc cuz I have big hands and I'm very happy with how it feels now while holding it. I've bought 4 cases for my dinc (2 silicones, TPU, Seidio active) and now the Rugged, which I'm completely satisfied with. Otter? I dont need no stinking Otter!

I finally urged myself to order the Rugged Combo Value setup. I've been holding out for awhile to see what came up. I went ahead and purchased the value combo to have both options of which setup (holster) to use depending on what I was doing or going. Of course now that I have ordered it I wish I would have done it earlier this week, I won't see it until Wednesday (21st). Since I got my Incredible, I have actually been searching for a leather case w/clip that I could use with the VZW High Gloss silicone cover. I have only found one nice one but it was horizontal and I wanted vertical. Anyway, just my 2 cents...

Can anyone comment on the quality of the screen protector with the Seidio product? That was one of the greatest things about the Otter I had on my recent Eris, the screen protector was amazing!!!
Also, can anyone post pics of their Inc. in the rugged Seidio?

Not sure how the otterbox screen proctor worked on your Eris....the one I had for I BB storm was part of the case. The protector for the Seidio is applied to the screen similar to the Zagg Invisible shield but not the room for error.

On a side note I had my case for 4 days when the plug for the headphone jack fell off....this created a weak point in the rubber case. So just inserting the phone into the holster ripped the case. This will be the 3rd day that I am waiting for a response for Seidio warranty.

I see that Otterbox already has their Iphone cases out and the iphone came out 2 months after the Incredible.

These devices will be EOL if you wait on Otterbox.

I posted about that on their FB page and they replied with:
OtterBox
We are still working on those cases but the demand for our iPhone cases was 5 times greater than any other devices. It's just smart business to meet your market demands.

Yea, Otterbox is losing a lot of business taking their time with this one. Judging by most the posts, people have simply compromised and went with Seidio due to the wait being too long. I'll be surprised if they even release a case for the Incredible at this point. I've bought a cheapy $3 case from eBay to tide me over, but its already starting to break.

My guess is, they halted production of any other cases to rush one out for iPhone 4. Thats guaranteed money in their pockets.

If Otterbox doesn't come out soon, I may have to resort to getting Seidio as well. Not trying to knock on Seidio by any means and if it was anyone's number 1 choice to begin with, thats cool.

athenslb57, I am starting to agree with you... and Dream, here's what I got this morning from Otterbox (with my original message)

Me: "Can you please explain to me how the iPhone 4G case is to market less than one month after release, while the HTC Droid Incredible is at THREE MONTHS after release and still not available??? I want to wait, but I am losing confidence that you will actually bring one to market at all."

Otterbox: "I am truely sorry for your frusteration regarding the iphone 4 case coming out sooner than the Incredible. I only know that the iphone 4 case request had the highest demand in Otter history. Please do not be disappointed, we will have the Incredible case out as soon as possible."

I recently called them directly as well, and was told that it normally takes at least 3 months to develop a product case... to me that means they HAD to have put everything else on hold to get the iPhone 4 case out. I am now going to order this Seidio combo. I'm seeing enough good stuff that I think I can do that and not look back.

I know the loss of my purchase won't mean much to Otterbox, but it WILL mean something to me.
