Froyo Android 2.2

Yup, everyone knows it's not coming to the Hero.

There's a version floating around that works, but not a few things are still missing. It'll be quite some time before there's a version of 2.2 with sense, assuming it happens at all

everyone except sprint's tech-support reps! I spoke to them yesterday and they said something to the effect that "it was still being decided". I mentioned his own company's twitter post and he was insistent that it was not decided one way or another. oh well...cyanogen for me some day soon

Does anyone know if it's coming to the Hero?

I'm kind of new at this so I hope I'm not posting something dumb but my phone just alerted me that there is an update available for software 2.27.651.5.

Now previously I rooted the phone with a 2.1 tutorial I found on this forum and was wondering if my phone was still rooted now that I did the OTA update. I still see the superuser app in the programs menu and also the wireless tether app but I do not see the network on the computer. Is my phone still rooted?

this would be better answered in the rooting section... but the answer is, if you did the OTA update to the .6 version, then no you no longer have root. you have to go back to the .5 version of 2.1 in order to root again.

@ the OP... no the Sprint Hero will not get the 2.2 update. There is however a customer ROM created by Cyanogen in the Sprint Hero rooting section.. I've been running it for the last few days... it's FAST and smoother than 2.1 on our phones.. As much as I like SenseUI, I think that adding that along with the Sprint bloatware it would make our phones much slower than 2.1. Keep in mind that the Cyanogen version (CM6) includes an OC'd kernel running at 710mhz (stock I believe is 528mhz) so that accounts for the big boost in speed. We all know that Sprint would not release it with an OC'd kernel..
