I'm using Salling Media Sync. Runs on your PC and can automatically update/sync when you connect your phone. Haven't had any issues with it and it is able to sync standard playlists and smart playlists as well as podcasts and photos although the photos require use of Adobe Photoshop Elements or Adobe Photoshop Album SE. They have both Windows and Mac versions.
I tried iSyncr on my X and it worked fine for music playlists. However, its podcast support is negligible. It will sync unread podcasts, but it's all or nothing. You can't specify which podcasts to sync, which is a deal-breaker for me because I have a TON of podcasts that I subscribe to but only have room to sync a few at a time.
Is there an alternative to iSyncr that will let you sync specific podcasts from iTunes?
My X seems to have frozen after transferring a 2GB playlist and clicking Eject on the Removable Disk device (My Computer on PC) doesn't do anything. When I select Music on the phone, I get a screen that says, "Sorry, your SC card is busy." Is it still scanning for music? Or am I frozen up?
I used doubletwist which has a look and feel of Itunes. My only two complaints are: 1 Album art does not load into DT or onto the phone, and 2 for some reason after opening DT on my laptap I loose the connectin to my router and have to reboot the PC. This happens about 50% of the time.
TuneSync! It is magical, syncs my playlists out of iTunes right through Wifi so I don't even have to connect my phone. Works perfectly with the Droid X and my Macbook Pro.

As long as your phone is connected to the PC it won't let you access the SD card. If you have already disconnected I am not sure what the problem is. I haven't had any issues with iSyncr yet.
Thanks, dubya. I was still connected. The installation instructions said to click Eject on the PC and wait, then unplug. I waited about 30 minutes before I decided "break the rules" and unplug anyway. LOL! I'm compliant if nothing else - certainly not usually that patient!
Songbird seems to be the easiest thing i've used to sync music and photos to my phone. It's just like iTunes so it detects it and you can put auto sync or manual. If you press manual, drag and drop on the sidebar with the phone. If you pick auto sync just press sync and it puts everything thats in the library on the phone.
Is there anything wrong with just connecting the X to your computer and using the Mass Storage selection on the X and then creating a folder "Music" and then dragging and dropping your music from your comp into it?

Effortless. Syncs playlists (podcasts if you have them in a "smart playlist") over wi-fi or 3G if you really configure everything properly. There's nothing like making a playlist as I'm walking out the door and having it sync while I'm driving to work.
