Root How do I know if my phone is rooted

Okay this sounds really stupid. I used the Clockwork, un-revoke tool which is suppose to root your phone.

My intention was not to root my phone but to run recovery.
I wanted to downgrade so I went thru the motion and it said everything was done/successful.

Now, I DONT want to be rooted. I am thinking of exchanging my phone for the Droid X.

I went into the terminal and did some root things but they were unsuccessful like "whoami", tried to unmount file system,etc...
I am running "sudo <whatever command>" and "su" so it fails. I assume I'm not rooted but why would unrevoke app say I am?

I am struggling to downgrade using Linux (different topic) but for now, I want to confirm my phone is not rooted.

if you ran a clear storage that wont remove root, follow my video which the gentle above me posted ^^^^

I followed the video. I've used 3 different pb13img.zip and even extracted from the RUU.
Doesn't work for me. I have tried 3 FAT32 sdhc cards. I

The problem is it does all the checks and before it installs, it fails saying "Main Version older" or something to that effect.

I have hboot.77 and everyone says if you do the OTA, I should be at hboot79.
