Help is your top loose?

after a couple of days with my G1, I noticed that the display part seems abnormally loose. when closed, the top can move at least 2mm away and back from the keyboard part in the direction perpendicular to the display plane.

It's probably fine, but I'm just worried about my new toy.

I returned my black g1 do to the incredible amount of squeaks and am going to get a brown/white one as there have been no reported issues. Many people have had the squeaks and complained.

Ok, my top got looser this week and started to squeak a little. It's really annoying to feel the screen give under my thumb when swiping or 'click and drag' -ing. I'm thinking about going to a Tmobile store today. I want to buy my wife a BB flip for Christmas, so maybe they will be extra nice?

Well, someone got my joke...

I showed my G1 to a rep at the Tmo store and he thought I had cause for an exchange. However, since mine was preordered, he couldn't exchange at the store. At least he let me play with his BB flip. I almost bought a flip for my wife, but they were out of the red ones. I think he appreciated me letting another prospective G1 owner play with my G1. It's not like the old days with live demo phones. Those dummy phones suck big time. So, I called 611 this evening at his suggestion. I got some mixed messages, but 60 minutes into the call, I was able to find out that Tmo will ship me a replacement phone. I pay for ground shipping, then return my squeaky phone with a prepaid label. It's the same procedure I used a couple of years back for a SE T610 that had issues.

This is not pretty much the kind of customer support I've had from Tmo since they were VoiceStream in 2002.

i jsut asked a for a replacement phone yesterday! and got it today. they told me they would give me free 3 day ups shipping. and unsuspectingly got it today! i was soo happy but i hope they honor the free shipping!

yeah. my 14 days was up, though. was yours? I only had to pony up ten bucks. The replacement came today and its so nice to not have the squeaks. You know what else is nice? I typed in my gmail account info and all my contacts synched automatically. That's exactly why android is the shiznit.

I just got my G1 on thursday and I realized my phone started to squeak yesterday. Damn it! I've been waiting for a long time now I have to return it to get another one... It isn't that severe though. I only have squeaks when I push from the top left corner and it has a little play (1-2mm) from the bottom left corner. When it is opened, it has no play at all and no squeaks. Is that the kind of squeaks you guys have?

My phone is beginning to do that now, squeaking when I hold up to my ear. I will try to contact store where I got it from and see if I can get an exhange.
