Root Rooting on Mac OSX

I am interested in rooting my Droid X and I want to know the best way to to it on Mac OSX. Most of the tutorials out there are for the PC, can anyone give me a step in the right direction?

You need to download the Android SDK. You need to use ADB in order to root.

developer.google.com

I don't know if anyone has successfully rooted using OS X...

I did, no problem. Here are easy-to-follow directions.

A couple things to consider:

Do you have a basic understanding of command line programming?

If so, rooting your Droid X will be a piece of cake. You won't have any of the driver issues on Mac, connection to the phone is clean and simple.

If not, is it worth rooting at this time? As I see it, the only significant reason to root is to be able to use Wireless Tether for Root. Deleting apps to remove visual clutter is not as important now that Launcher Pro enables you to "hide" apps.

Yes I do have a basic understanding of command line programming, but I have decided to download the root files to my phone and then root it using a terminal emulator on the phone. Thanks for your feedback.

Hope you can cut and paste the code. Typing it in on a touch screen will be excruciating.
