I searched from the main DX forum and then in the sub forums. Couln't find an answer.

So how do I get HDMI output to my tv? I'm trying AVI's MP4's and even videos recorded with the DX.

I'm playing through the gallery then the stock player. My tv won't recognize that hdmi is active, so I can't select it using the tv controls.

Any thoughts? Seems like there isn't much info on using hdmi here.

Well, I can only tell ya what I've done - my HDMI output is set to "automatic" and I have a newer LG 47". I select the input on the TV after I've connected everything and then go to the gallery, seems you can preview on the DX but when you press on any pic or vid my tv changes from "no connection" to what ever is on the DX. Also, you can normally tell if they are connected if you see the "controler" on your phone after pressing the pic/vid, has a <, play, > - very large, only thing on the phones screen.

Edit: I've only tried media in my "gallery", nothing else yet so I'm not sure about other formats

Ok, partially working as expected.

I swapped my PS3 cable after selecting that hdmi input.

Then it took a while for the phone to recognize... I think that's the key, the phone has to recognize that the hdmi port is active, then I got the large buttons for play/ff, etc.

I tried another HDMI port and left the video running for a while... it never became a selection on my TV, and the controls never came up on the phone.

I'm wondering if I need to have the phone plugged in (to power) for the tv to recognize?

nah, I wasn't plugged into any power. I had just got the cable ( the moto one from VW store ) plugged it in and basically just hit the pic/vid. In fact the vid was emailed from a storm 1 so I guess I can't say I've played a DX recorded vid but close enough. It certainly viewed everything from my gallery to the TV. BUT I also watch DVD rips from my pc via HDMI cable and the TV can be finicky with the connection, I always have to select the input FIRST on the TV and then switch the monitors, I know this has nothing to do with the DX, I'm just saying it could be on your TVs end. Honestly the way DX sends via HDMI it would be hard but try playing a video and THEN switching inputs on your TV, either way it has to "connect" - not the traditional component/coxial analog signal.

Good luck! If you need to know any settings I have just ask, I really didn't do anything but plug-n-play but maybe my factory defaults differ than yours in some way. I will check back frequently.
