Why are so many threads getting closed on here?

Hi,

I know I'm probably asking for trouble by questioning the management 'round here, but why are so many threads getting closed on this forum?

I've only been on here a few days, and being a new Android owner, and having never visited this forum before, I asked a question about something along the lines of "what's the latest news on Android 2 coming out on HTC Hero", for it to be closed within only a few days.

I've also noticed a thread which compares iPhone to Hero, and as an owner of both iPhone and Hero, I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to make the OP feel better about his Hero, but yet again, the thread is closed.

I've now just noticed another thread about Android 2 on Hero, and while I understand that many threads on the same subject can be annoying, surely instead of just closing all the threads, the admins could put a link at the bottom of the new thread saying "please post on this existing thread over here", and then close it. Or, maybe sticky an existing thread so that people see it!

Or, of course, people could just be left to say what they think in the latest thread on the subject. What's the worst that could happen?

Are the admins just grumpy or have I missed something? I visit lots of forums and have never seen so many closed threads.

I look forward to this thread being closed before anybody has a chance to post a reply...

Please know that the site's policy is not to close threads that are beneficial....

If you will Post the thread link or PM me. I or other Senior Mods will review the thread and reopen it if it is warranted.

Your suggestion to a post by the Mod Closing the thread and with a link to the new thread is well placed.

One of the prime goals is to keep info and conversation OPEN not Closed .... Closed threads may be because the discussions got out of hand ... and that is a different issue that we try very hard to address.

Please understand we welcome your interest, thoughts and comments.... so let us know ... and we will review !!!
