Keeping different contact beetween SIM & gmail

Hello people,

I am going to buy a new GSM and i was looking for android OS. One point which is most important for me, is to keep difference beetween my gmail account and my data on my GSM.
So i actually i saw that android will merge my contact on my gmail account with the contact i have on my SIM card, so is there any way to keep different list of contact like on any GSM ?

Another question, SMS or other stuff are sync with google/gmail if i take an android GSM ?
