Epic 4g Review from Gizmodo,

Gizmodo has reviewed the Epic4G and I get the feeling that they may be slightly impressed

Engadget has their review up as well. It's not bad but it's a little more negative themed.

Overall, I don't see anything to change my mind about obtaining this phone. Especailly considering that the GPS fix is coming and that Launcher Pro will be getting on my phone as soon as I turn it on.


I see that PCMag has theirs up as well

Cnet's has theirs up too, and apparently Bonnie Cha didn't review it because this is actually a decent review


I just wish all these companies would stop dinging it for the premium charge wehn all together it's still cheaper than the olther Galaxy s Phones.

That was a refreshing review in comparison to the Engadget review. It's good to have contrasting opinions though.

That's what threw me after I finished Engadget's review. I was getting depressed about the review and then I read that it was a killer phone. Maybe my reading comprehension isn't great but I don't see how they got that result, based on what they said during the review

I think its just the reviewer himself tends to nit pick a little. The video review he did was a little less negative though. Overall, his review was still positive I think but it had a negative vibe at times...

Its like he hasn't heard of ADW or Launcher Pro. Both can be made to be exactly like Vanilla Eclair/Froyo

I was a little surprised at the Engagdet review, since I saw at the beginning it was rated 8/10. I think a lot of it had to do with that they already reviewed the AT&T and T-Mobile versions, so they skimmed over a lot of what they liked about the phone.

Engadget (and many others) hate skins, and I think TouchWiz got a little more spotlight than it would otherwise because they didn't feel the need to go over the SuperAmoled again. That was the big sticking point it seemed, they weren't fond of the keyboard either.

Basically, it sounded like they liked the Evo better, but still felt the Epic was a great phone. They do mention the fact that the Evo is $50 cheaper, it may be a hard sell to get the Epic if you don't require a hard keyboard.

That is likely, as it seems they predominantly use iPhones at Engadget.

Only thing is, the EVO is also on that short list for us -- and the better camera, bigger screen, and $50 savings versus the Epic still make it our winner in this 4G shootout

Sure enough, we went into Settings, found that it was disabled on the Epic, turned it on, and we were good to go. No GPS bug!"

but also it looks like engadget still prefers the evo over the epic

Yeah, I noticed the bit about them saying Evo camera is better, found that to be odd considering the other reviews saying the Epic camera is much than the Evo. Not really a huge selling point for me so I wasn't going to bring it up. Engadget has actaully been the most negative of all the reviews so far, so take their opinion as you wish.

As a former Hardcore EVO fan, even i can admit that the Evo doesn't take good pictures compared to some of the other brands. It looks like Engadget let the MP count persuade them instead of actual picture quality.

I haven't seen any Epic vs EVO pics, but I have seen Evo vs iPhone4 and Samsung Galaxy S (variation) vs iPhone 4 and I find it very hard to believe that the EVO takes better pictures
