I've made a lot of changes to my Droid X over the last few days and I just want to make sure I fully understand the current state I'm in with my Droid X. First, I'll explain what I've already done. Then, I'll ask my questions! ;-)
WHAT I'VE ALREADY DONE -
1) Started from a non-rooted Droid X.
2) Rooted with Universalandroot. Success.
3) Moved the SU from bin to xbin. Success.
4) Upgraded to the 2.2 leak with update.zip. Success!
5) Kept root! Awesome!
6) Installed Bootstrapper and performed a backup from recovery. Check.
7) Replaced the Build.prop file to fix the Market problem (no protected apps). Check.
And that's where I'm at right now! Everything is working fine now except for the Force Close when checking the battery icon, but that doesn't seem to be a big deal (yet). Now I just want to make sure I am prepared going forward.
NOW FOR MY QUESTIONS -
1) I already did a backup using Bootstrapper in recovery. Should I be doing another backup on a regular basis? Where does it store the backups and can I delete older ones? I understand this backup is mainly beneficial if something happens to my phone and I want to get back to a state where it was working, right?
2) Do I still need to use Titanium Backup? I assume if I do a backup using this then it could be helpful if I just want to do a system restore and bring back my apps and data, right? Otherwise, I might as well just do the Bootstrap recovery, right? Speaking of system restore, if I do that from my 2.2 build, will it stay at 2.2 and will it stay rooted?
3) Is there a way to prevent my phone from installing the OTA update when it comes out soon? I assume it will ask me and I can decline, but is there a chance it will install automatically? I want to make sure I don't lose root, so I will want to decline the update until root is available.
4) Once root becomes available for 2.2, how would we go about updating to the official version with root? Would we have to wipe our phones first, or is there a chance we could just install the official update without losing everything?
Thanks a bunch!
