A company like Verizon should have big enough servers and they've had since April to test the update. Those aren't good excuses.

There is a law of unintended consequences in the tech world. Things never work out the way you planned and there are always consequence you did not intend or plan for.

We did a server upgrade for a client a few weeks. We had set up this server farm for them previously from scratch so we were intimately familiar with the hardware on it and what we could do. The primary tech on the account drew up plans for the upgrade and how he would do it. Three other techs looked over the plans to make sure there weren't any holes in them. They found a few things and all agreed on how to fix them or work around them. Then they tried the actual upgrade. It didn't work as planned, Microsoft and HP ended up being called to straighten out stuff and we ended up writing off $42k worth of time on it. Law of unintended consequences.

Just got this phone last week, I have never used Android. What may I ask is the big deal about Froyo? what am I looking for that will be different?

No worries mate. You're among friends here.

FroYo isn't as big of a deal as we've made it out to be. The phone has a few issues (call quality, charging issues) that we've wanted fixed. Many of us suspect that FroYo will fix it.

Above that, we just want the update. Many of us are tech geeks and the most important thing for us is to have the "latest and greatest". Some of the nice perks of FroYo (for me at least) are 720p video recording, 802.11n, better battery life (although mine has been pretty darn good with the 1750 Seidio), and the HTC flashlight widget (app?, dunno yet).

We've also felt let down by Vzw since they never gave us a release date. The myriad of rumors have all had us looking forward to something that never arrived.

Now, with FroYo around the corner, many of us are happy. :D

Now we can all start complaining about not having Android 3.0 Gingerbread.

been there, done that. consulting is a bitch sometimes, but most of the time rounding up your billable makes up for stuff like that in the end.

now someone give me a link to the official rom without the ruu and all the junk removed.
