Help Gallery problems

Recently my photo gallery has been acting up... some photos dont preview in a thumbnail, some take forever to load and i get a notification on my top bar saying "failed to read/write sd card. gallery may not work as expected". Is anyone else having or had this problem before? If so, please advise.

It's possible to get the directory kinda corrupted on an sd card. See -

It's my understanding that you can get a disk repair with a right-click on the sd card when mounted as a usb thumbdrive under Win7.

On a Mac, Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utilities -> Repair

Also - one buddy hereabouts was having a similar problem but it turns out that he had accidentally made a copy of the sd card into itself, so the photo folder kinda got recursive and instead of a single folder with thumbnails and maybe a hundred pix, he was getting thousands of pix and thumbnails showing up - all he had to do was trim away the erroneous sub-folder he'd made.
