Just irritating that the droid cant playback its own nice video reliably. More often than not it will glitch then the audio goes waaayy out of sync. FAIL

I don't have this problem. Perhaps it's your device. My video (whether it was taken on the phone or from a separate file) works just fine. No hiccups, no crashing, no glitches.

i've had no problems with this using either the default video player or meridian. might be an issue with your specific droid. or i just got lucky

edit: and i've recorded some pretty long videos and tested it with them, too.

never happened to me w/Droid video...longest I've played back was about 10 minutes, I think...

I had a problem with one video sent from a win mo phone. I can see the video but can't hear the audio. The videos I take look great, sound great, no glitches.

Is it saving the file to the SD card? I noticed when I played some mp3 files for the first time, it seemed like the pitch was a lot slower than normal. I swapped in an 8GB Class 4 card and the problem seemed to have subsided. The card that came with the DROID doesn't look top notch (e.g. SanDisk, Transcend, etc). Try a faster card (ie. class 4 or 6).

It did it on both Droids that i have had. I am using a Sandisk 16GB class 6 card, not the low class 2 that it comes preinstalled with. I have seen posts about the same audio sync problem before. Maybe they will fix it in 12/11 update, but doubtful.

No problems here either using the stock micro-sd card that came with the Droid and the Qik beta app to record at 720x480. In fact I just recorded about 40 minutes of my daughters ballet performance last night and it looks VERY good for being shot on a phone.

I record lots of video as it is what i do for a living and both droids I have had have done the same. It's like there is a hicupp in the same spot on the vid then the audio is way off. Also overall playback is not always continuously smooth it will play smooth then bog down often. Video playback for movies i have converted are fine. I'm talking about droid camera recordings. I would doubt anyone with a droid doesn't have the same problem, but it there is anyone in the Northeast Florida region who doesn't I would certainly like to meet up and see it in person.


I am going to put in the class 2 and record a bunch now and see if the results are consistent.

You appear to have a problem w/your Droid or your SD card - that is not a normal experience.

I have the stock 16GB card that came w/the Droid, and I have used four different Droids over the past four weeks, and never had a video hitch on any of them.

Your troubleshooting should include:

1. Reformat your SD card and try again
2. Try another SD card (as you are now)

If those actions show no change, I would immediately return your Droid for a new on.

still testing, but as i am testing I am reminded of how terrible the cam software is when recording in evening room lighting. A pretty well lit room, prob 200w of tungsten lighting and the droid dims the image way too dark, almost black. There is some sort of lighting threshold that when it gets to a certain level it goes opposite of what it should be. Where it should brighten the image, it darkens it.

Yes, but that is a winmo answer. Droid is an iphone competitor. Android nor winmo come with a native task manager for killing apps. Neither does the iphone but I can run a ton of apps, move into a hirez video and not 1 hiccup on the itouch. Android is supposed to handle the memory without a task killer..

The camera definitely wants a lot of light - it's not your friend for situations that aren't well lit. But then again, my BB cam wasn't either.

Good luck in your testing. As I said, have tons of apps installed, background processes running, etc., and haven't seen any video hitches, and would expect that you shouldn't either.

100% of my income comes from videography and photography and I understand the technical concepts of small chip sensitivity and at least the 2 droids I have had both exhibit the same faulty behavior. I'm posting another thread on the tests I have just made.
